Next is the Countdown which consistently reaches suspended fish at any depth. I’ll put this lure on when I’m coming out of a shallow area of the river into a big deep hole. As soon as I’m just into the top of the pool, I cast the Rapala into the shallow area and retrieve it into the deeper water reeling at a steady pace. More often than not this is how I’ll catch my biggest trout of the trip. Try the Brown Trout color, or the Rainbow Trout color or you can go with the Brook Trout color. Any of these colors work great.
