Tackle- Berkley Frenzy

July 18th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I went out again on Sunday and floated from Policeman’s Flats down to Mackinnon Flats with just as good success as Saturday. I was still on the hunt for that 30 inch Brown Trout I’d been praying for on Saturday. I put the Berkley Frenzy back on the end of my line and casted away. My first fish was a 22 inch Rainbow I banged out on a slow corner. We slowed down just a little and I made a cast into the bank were the moving water was meeting with a calm deep pool. As we floated by I casted into the calm water and sure enough I had a large fish on but could not manage to land him. We were moving slowly enough that I re-casted into the same pool but this time he exploded into the Berkley and I reeled him into the boat. A 23 inch Rainbow Trout was a nice reward for a little intuition.

Just wanted to take a second to say thankyou for all the tips you are putting up here. I was out today and got skunked (after I managed to find a spot to fish). Like you, I want to stick closer to home now and all your tips are a godsend. I’m off to pick up some spinners and such based on your recommendations and I still might get in a few hours on the river today.

    Thanks again.
