Back on the Bow River attack

As winter slowly melts away, I finally got my jet boat back out for its 2024 maiden voyage. I had the boat repaired for cracked welds at Grey Wolf Industries in Millet, Alberta. Jesse did a fantastic job and I highly recommend his work to anyone needing repairs done to their boat. My girlfriend and I drove up on a Saturday, and had the boat out fishing the next day, Easter Sunday.

I have taken my girlfriend out shore fishing several times over the winter, but this was going to be her first time out on the boat. To say she was extremely excited would be an understatement! We tried to get to bed early Saturday night, but all that excitement made it hard to sleep. You all know how that goes! We got a decent rest and made our way to Policemans Flats boat launch for 9AM. It was quiet out there, with only a few trailers in the parking lot. We rigged up our rods with those high quality, Robertson Tackle lures and made our way down river in search of peace, quiet and of course, those epic Bow River trout.

I have caught many, many fish from this river, so getting my girlfriend some fish was the goal of the day. I caught the first amazing brown, and decided to stop fishing and let her experience those strong, scrappy fish all to herself. We arrived at a spot East of the golf course, and I pulled the boat off to the shore of the river. She was casting with ease, and grace letting the rod do the work. After only two casts, she caught this amazing brown pictured here. A few more casts and she had another brown smash her Pink Panther lure. We were both exceptionally excited and happy she caught these epic trout. Several more casts and we decided to move locations.

Off we went downriver into a deep corner of the river, where normally there are monster trout. Once again, I pulled the boat off the river letting her cast into prime water. It was not long and she was battling a gigantic Bow River “Rocket” (Rainbow Trout) She battled this beast perfectly and guided it into my awaiting net like a pro. We snapped a few quick pics before gently letting the fish go to be caught another day.

Several more trout were caught along our journey and we had a very amazing day out there. I think Charlene, my girlfriend landed eight fish, and I was able to put five in the net. We both had a fantastic day out there sport fishing the mighty Bow River. The boat repairs were done perfectly and I could not be happier.
