Bass Pro Shop in Balzac Now Open!

A friend of mine I work with started a rumour today; he said Bass Pro Shop was now open for business. I laughed it off and went back to my daily routine of painting automobiles. After work I asked him “were you serious when you said that Bass Pro Shop is now open”. He said yes and I was out the door and off to see this for myself. The advertised grand opening date is set for Wednesday April 8, 2009 where you will see celebrities like Dave Mercer and Bob Izumi. I just had to see if it was true so I drove to Balzac and pulled into the parking lot. Upon arriving I saw people walking out the door and immediately got excited, parked the car and jogged up to the front door. The doors were open and I’m in, I was greeted by a nice friendly lady and she passed me a store specials flier. I thanked her and bee lined straight for the fishing section.

I walked up to the fishing counter and was met by a staff employee who welcomed me to the new store and asked me “what do you think”. “I love it” I replied, “very well done indeed”. I was looking for some tackle and asked him if he could help me out. He asked Jeff if he could show me around and take me where I needed to go. I introduced myself to Jeff and told him what I was after, he said “follow me” and he directed me to the lures I was searching for. I grabbed a basket as I had a feeling I was going to be there for awhile. Jeff and I walked the isles talking fishing and filling my basket as we went. Jeff knew where everything I was looking for was located, was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. A great sales representative to say the least! After we talked for quite sometime I thanked Jeff for his time and went on my way to see the whole store.

I then walked into the apparel section and scoped a couple of shirts that have the Bass Pro Shop logo on them, I mean come on seven dollars Canadian, how can you beat a deal like that. Then I strolled into the boat section and took a look at some serious fishing boats. I made my way over to the fish display which contained Brown, Rainbow, and Brook trout with a small Pike mixed in the bunch. This place must be seen even if you do not hunt of fish. I picked up a couple more items and then it was time to get home for dinner.

I encourage you to make you way to the new Bass Pro Shop, have a coffee and walk the store for an hour or two. Do not forget to bring cash or your bank card and spend a little of that hard earned money. Say hi to the great staff on hand and ask for what you are looking for, I know you will be well looked after. I would personally like to thank Jeff for a job very well done. You will see me again very soon. Thanks to all my faithful readers of the Bow River Blog. I know it’s going to be a fun, successful 2009 fishing season!

  1. Just found your blog and I will be adding you to my blog roll so I can return regularly.
I love Bass Pro but have never been to one as I live in Fiji and only order on line.
    Tight lines

  2. Thanks for the comment, I as well usually ordered my tackle online from Bass Pro but now it is on my way home from work so I find my car just driving into Bass Pro’s parking lot. I am glad to see there is some serious competition in my home town.

Bass Pro stays open later than all the other tackle shops and has way more selection to choose from. A definite plus for our city !!!

I will stop by your Blog very soon.

    Thanks for the comment !!

Just an FYI, the Bass Pro Shops here in the States allow you to bring your dog in as well. I have a 50 lb Akita mix puppy and have been bringing him in since he was 10 weeks old. It’s my kids favorite place to spend a few hours. 🙂
